FAQs
What is the difference between Water-Cooled and Air-Cooled machines?
Air-cooled machines produce cold air by removing heat from intake air. They create hot air exhaust that must be removed from the area you are cooling. Water-cooled machines provide cold air by removing heat from water. Water-cooled machines produce no hot air exhaust but do require a cold-water inlet and a hot water discharge or outlet.
Are KwiKool units Buy American Act (BAA) compliant?
Yes. KwiKool machines are made in Texas.
What is the warranty?
https://www.americanportableairconditioners.com/warranty
For a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase, KWIKOOL PORTABLE COOLING SYSTEMS (“Seller”) warrants that its products shall be free from defects in material and workmanship.
What is new about the 2025 -3 models?
The -3 versions are the updated models that replace the -2 units across the entire KwiKool line. The specifications are essentially the same, but the -3 units use the new low-GWP refrigerant R-454B instead of R-410A. This change keeps them compliant with the latest environmental regulations while maintaining the same cooling capacity, power requirements, overall performance, and look.
What is a Heat Pump?
A Heat Pump is a system that can both cool and heat. It works like an air conditioner in cooling mode by removing heat from the air, supplying the cold air and exhausting the hot. In heating mode it reverses the process—moving heat into the space instead of out. This allows one unit to provide year-round temperature control without separate heating equipment.
What is a “Ton”?
A "ton" of cooling is a unit of measurement for an air conditioner's cooling capacity, defining how much heat it can remove in one hour. It does not refer to the unit's weight.
One Ton of Cooling is equal to 12,000 BTU per hour (British Thermal Units). The term originates from the days when ice was used for refrigeration. The measurement is defined as the amount of heat absorbed by melting one ton (2,000 pounds) of ice over a 24-hour period. This absorption is equal to 12,000 BTUs per hour.
What is condensate and how do KwiKool machines deal with it?
Condensate, or condensation, is the water that forms during the process of air conditioning. The moisture from the warmer air turns into droplets as it contacts the cold evaporator coil inside your air conditioner.
In the KwiKool KPAC series this water gathers in 5-gallon condensate tanks that need to be emptied periodically. Condensate tanks are optional for KPAC units. In the KIB, KWIB, and KPO series, condensate pumps are included. Condensate pumps automatically send the water through a plastic tube to be emptied into a mop sink, drain, or external tank.
What is the “condenser return air plenum” of the KIB series?

What are KwiKool machines made of?
There are many materials that go into each machine, but the most simplified answer is this: powder-coated steel cabinets, copper condenser coils, and industrial plastic accessories.
